Overview

Spanning 25.8 square miles, Broward County School District serves the educational needs of Pompano Beach. Located in one of the state’s fastest-growing areas, the district enjoys a diversified economic base. Currently, the district consists of thirty-three (33) high schools, forty-three (43) middle schools and one hundred and thirty-eight (138) elementary, 16 adult/vocational schools, 16 centers, and 56 charter schools utilizing a K – 5, 6 – 8, 9 – 12 grade-level configurations. The student body is culturally diverse with a population that is 26.5% Hispanic, 28.2% African American, 39.2% white, and 3.5% Asian, 1.8% mixed and 0.8% other.

School

New Life Preparatory Academy is a comprehensive seven-year private middle and prep high school enrolling students in grades 6 – 12. The school opened in the fall of 2000 and graduated its first senior class in the spring of 2001. New Life has accreditation with recognized National and Local Accrediting Agency as well as membership with the College Board and other National recognized Coalitions.

Curriculum

We partner with FLVS and ACE as our Curriculum providers which delivers an online experience like no other with a mandatory consecration of the Old and New Testament Survey.

The academic program is organized on a rotating block schedule. Developed by a team of leading educational experts, our virtual school curriculum is one of the finest, most comprehensive programs available anywhere. It integrates the best learning materials for world-renowned educational publishers, including both online and offline resources, for a well-rounded learning experience. Our online school curriculum experts constantly evaluate and update our online courses to deliver the most effective results and to align with Florida Standards. In support of our personalized approach, we design and offer a robust selection of core courses and an exciting array of electives to give students choice and flexibility.

A – Excellent: 94% – 100% [4]
B – Above average: 85% – 93% [3]
C – Average: 75% – 84% [2]
D – Below average: 65% – 74% [1]
F – Failure: 64% or below [0]

Grade Point Average

GPA is computed using the above quality points. Beginning with grade six, all subjects, whether passed or failed, are included in the computation. A minimum of 24 credits is required for graduation beginning in the 9th grade. In addition, each student must complete a 200-hour community service graduation requirement. AP and Honors classes are weighted by one point. Grades are recorded on the transcript and GPA is computed in January and May.
